Shizue Oda
Description
Shizue Oda is a Japanese voice actress and actress born on February 5, 1964, in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. She is primarily recognized for her work in anime during the 1990s.
Oda's most significant and defining role came in 1996 when she was cast as the protagonist Sana Kurata in the television anime series Kodocha, also known as Kodomo no Omocha. She provided the voice for the energetic and precocious child actress from the series' premiere in April 1996 until its conclusion in March 1998, a role she also reprised for the series' original video animation. Her performance as Sana, capturing the character's unique blend of childish exuberance and mature insight, became her signature work and the performance for which she is best known.
Beyond her voice work for the character, Oda also contributed musically to Kodocha. She performed several insert songs for the series, including Good-bye love and vitamin love, the latter as part of the unit Shorokutai with fellow cast members. These songs were released by Sony Records.
In the same year her career peaked with Kodocha, Oda also voiced a minor role as a DJ in the anime series Full Moon o Sagashite. Information about other voice roles or a broader career is sparse. While she has two credited collaborations with voice actors Akiko Kikuchi and Minami Takayama on Kodocha, there is no publicly available information to suggest these were part of a recurring professional partnership on other projects.
