Tsuyoshi Fujitaka

Description
Tsuyoshi Fujitaka is a Japanese light novelist and the original creator of the multimedia franchise My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me!. Born in Kyoto, Japan, his date of birth is listed as February 21. He began his writing career not with a specific goal to become an author, but after winning a fiction prize for a piece he had written, which led to its publication.

Fujitaka is the sole author of the original story, which first began as a web novel serialized on the user-generated content site Shōsetsuka ni Narō starting on February 21, 2016. The series concluded its web serialization on March 15, 2023. Subsequently, the series was acquired for print publication by Earth Star Entertainment under their Earth Star Novel imprint, with the first light novel volume released on October 15, 2016, featuring illustrations by Chisato Naruse. The main light novel series spans 14 volumes, published from October 2016 to March 2023, with an extra volume released in February 2024.

The popularity of Fujitaka's original work led to multiple media adaptations. A manga adaptation titled My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me! —AΩ—, illustrated by Hanamaru Nanto, began serialization in Earth Star Entertainment's Comic Earth Star magazine on March 30, 2018. A second manga adaptation, My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered —AO—, illustrated by Azusa Kina, started in Earth Star Entertainment's Earth Star X in December 2021. An anime television series adaptation produced by Okuruto Noboru aired 12 episodes from January 5 to March 22, 2024. In all cases, Fujitaka is credited as the original author or writer of the source material.

In an interview, Fujitaka explained the creative concept behind his most famous work by noting that while many stories feature a strongest protagonist, there were few where the hero never loses, never struggles, and maintains that status from beginning to end, and he wished to experiment with that unique theme. He cites the horror novels of Hideyuki Kikuchi and the light novels of Rokugomaruni as influences on his writing. Fujitaka has also stated that he does not believe he has any particular writing habits, though he moves his body when thinking about his writing. Regarding the future of storytelling, he has expressed that artificial intelligence is likely to have an impact on the fiction field in the long term. He advises new writers to try to write until the end, as he believes it is relatively easy to revise and improve an already existing work compared to creating something from scratch.
