Arisa Komiya
Description
Arisa Komiya is a Japanese actress and voice actor born on February 5, 1994, in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Her career in entertainment began by chance during her middle school years when she was scouted by an agency while shopping in Shibuya. She made her acting debut in 2010 and first gained on-screen recognition in 2012 with her role as Yoko Usami, also known as Yellow Buster, in the Super Sentai series Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters. This role marked the beginning of a notable association with tokusatsu, as she would go on to appear in productions across Japan's three major franchises: Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman.
Her transition into voice acting was significantly influenced by her work in a stage play for the game Phantasy Star Online 2 in 2014, where she performed alongside Emi Nitta. Through this interaction, she learned about the Love Live! project and was inspired to audition for voice acting roles. In 2015, she was cast as Dia Kurosawa in Love Live! Sunshine!!, which became her debut as a voice actor and her most defining role. She has continued to voice the character in subsequent franchise projects, including the 2019 film Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow and the 2023 fantasy spinoff series Genjitsu no Yohane -Sunshine in the Mirror-. Her portrayal of Dia established her as a prominent figure in the anime voice acting industry.
Beyond the Love Live! franchise, Komiya has built a diverse portfolio of voice roles. In film, she voiced the character Sara, the princess of Vazelia, in the 2016 animated feature Garo: Divine Flame. Her television anime credits include Koharu Kawasaki in the 2023 film The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes, Koharu Hōen in the 2022 series Miss Kuroitsu From the Monster Development Department, and Mana Kase in D4DJ First Mix. She has also lent her voice to characters in series such as Monster Incident and anime films like Galaxy Turnpike.
Komiya's career is marked by a blend of on-camera acting and voice work, with a recurring connection to tokusatsu and action-oriented projects, frequently collaborating with director Koichi Sakamoto. Her multifaceted talents extend to stage acting, having performed in productions like Robotics;Notes, and work as a DJ beginning in 2019. She is also recognized for her skills in dance, including classical ballet, which she studied from elementary through middle school, and for her interest in illustration and late Edo period history. Her achievements include being one of the fastest actors to appear in all three of Japan's major tokusatsu series and her integral role in the successful Love Live! Sunshine!! multimedia project, which has included numerous album releases and live concerts as part of the group Aqours.
