Yumi Nakata

Description
Yumi Nakata is a Japanese manga artist and illustrator born in Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Nakata began a professional career in 1999 by publishing one-shot stories for Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine. Between 2000 and 2002, the work primarily consisted of erotic manga for adult magazines before shifting to creating manga for youth-oriented publications around 2003.

Among notable original works, Nakata created the manga Chu-Bra!!, which was serialized in Comic High! beginning in 2007. Another significant work is the original manga Okusama ga Seito Kaichō! (My Wife Is the Student Council President). This series originated from a 2007 one-shot titled Okusama wa Seito Kaichō, published by Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha. The story was then reworked and serialized in Ichijinsha’s shōnen manga magazine Monthly Comic Rex from August 27, 2011, to August 27, 2018, and was compiled into thirteen tankōbon volumes. Subsequent works include Shishunki-chan no Shitsukekata, which began serialization in Monthly Comic Rex in 2019.

The manga Okusama ga Seito Kaichō! was adapted into a twelve-episode anime television series produced by Studio Seven, which aired from July 2 to September 17, 2015. A second anime season, titled Okusama ga Seitokaichou!+! (My Wife Is the Student Council President+!), also consisting of twelve episodes, aired from October 2 to December 18, 2016. An original video animation, Okusama ga Seitokaichou!: Seitokaichou to Ofuro Asobi, was released on January 27, 2016. Nakata is credited as the original creator for these anime productions.

The artistic identity is characterized by moe and ecchi design elements that appeal to a young adult audience. The work in the romance comedy genre often incorporates themes of cohabitation and romantic entanglements with a comedic tone. The significance in the industry includes achieving one million copies in circulation for the Okusama ga Seito Kaichō! manga by April 2017.
