Akira Miyashita is a Japanese manga artist recognized for creating the long-running series Sakigake!! Otokojuku. Born on October 8, 1953, Miyashita began his career in the late 1970s, with one of his earliest serialized works being Shiritsu Kiwamemichi Kōkō, which ran in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1979 to 1980.
Miyashita is best known as the creator of Sakigake!! Otokojuku, a manga that was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1985 to 1991. The series is set in an all-boys private school that trains juvenile delinquents through extreme martial arts and a Spartan curriculum intended to instill traditional Japanese masculinity and chivalry.
