Ryōma Kitada

Description
Ryōma Kitada is a Japanese manga artist, known professionally as a mangaka, who has created several serialized works for Shueisha's Jump Square magazine. His most prominent and commercially successful original work is the manga series Super HxEros, also known as Dokyū Hentai HxEros.

Kitada began his career with the series μ & i, which ran from 2014 to 2016. He then wrote and illustrated Super HxEros, which was serialized in Jump Square from May 2017 to February 2021. The series was compiled into twelve tankōbon volumes. The story follows high school boy Retto Enjō, who joins a team called the HxEros to fight alien invaders known as Censor Bugs that drain humanity's libidinous H-energy. He fights alongside four girls, including his estranged childhood friend Kirara Hoshino.

The success of the manga led to an anime television series adaptation produced by the studio Project No.9. The anime, also titled Super HxEros, was directed by Masato Jinbo and aired from July to September 2020, spanning twelve episodes. Following the manga's conclusion, Kitada has continued to produce new works, including the series Yumeochi: Dreaming of Falling For You in 2023 and Sakigake no Hana Miko, which began serialization in 2024.

Kitada's artistic identity is strongly associated with a blend of action, comedy, and erotic themes, often referred to as a battle harem narrative. Super HxEros, in particular, is built on the concept of H-energy, a force tied to human sexual desire that powers the heroes' abilities, leading to frequent fanservice and clothing damage as a plot device. He is also known for his transparency regarding the financial realities of the manga profession. In 2020, he publicly shared a detailed breakdown of his earnings, revealing that he receives 10% royalties from physical book sales and 15% from digital sales.
