Kaufman's involvement in anime includes providing the English voice for the character Shun in the 2018 animated film Modest Heroes. This film is an anthology production by Studio Ponoc, consisting of three short stories. Kaufman voiced Shun in the segment titled Life Ain't Gonna Lose, which focuses on a young boy with a severe food allergy and his mother's determination to care for him. The English-language dub of the film, for which Kaufman contributed his voice, was released in 2019. His performance places him among a cast that included Maggie Q as Shun's mother and Todd Haberkorn as Shun's father and a doctor.
