TAa

Description
TAa is a Japanese manga author and illustrator best known for creating the popular Fate franchise spin-off, Today's Menu for the Emiya Family. The creator began their career contributing to official TYPE-MOON anthologies starting in 2014, establishing a long-standing relationship with the creative studio behind the Fate series.

TAa’s most significant work is the manga series Today's Menu for the Emiya Family, which has been serialized on Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace Up website since January 26, 2016. The series presents an alternate universe take on the Fate/stay night characters, focusing on the protagonist Shirou Emiya’s daily life cooking Japanese cuisine for his friends and family in a peaceful setting where the Fifth Holy Grail War has been resolved without tragedy. As of August 2024, the manga has been collected into ten tankōbon volumes. The series has been licensed for English release in North America by Denpa.

The manga’s success led to a thirteen-episode original net animation adaptation produced by the renowned studio ufotable. The anime aired monthly from January 2018 to January 2019, with each episode focusing on different recipes and character interactions. The franchise was further expanded with a video game adaptation titled Everyday♪ Today's Menu for the Emiya Family, developed by Aniplex for the Nintendo Switch and released in Japan and North America in 2021.

Beyond this signature work, TAa has contributed to the Fate universe in various capacities. The artist has provided character designs for the mobile game Fate/Grand Order, including for characters such as Gerda, Aurora, and Coral. TAa has also created illustrations for Craft Essences within Fate/Grand Order and contributed artwork for other projects such as the strategy game Sangokushi Taisen and the light novel Kanstsu Mura no Gokui Demon-san. The creator has collaborated with major industry entities including Aniplex, ufotable, and Kadokawa.

TAa’s artistic identity is characterized by a focus on slice-of-life storytelling and detailed depictions of cooking and domestic life, a departure from the action-oriented narrative typical of the Fate series. The creator’s artwork is noted for its delicate yet strong style and thoughtful perspective on the beloved characters. The widespread popularity of Today's Menu for the Emiya Family has established TAa as a significant contributor to the Fate franchise, demonstrating the viability of character-driven, non-action spin-offs within a major media property. The creator’s industry significance was recognized with an invitation as an official guest at Anime NYC in 2019.
