Sofia Espírito Santo is a Portuguese actress whose career encompasses live-action performance, theater direction, and voice work for animated productions. She was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on January 4, 1975. Before pursuing acting, she graduated in landscape architecture from the Technical University of Lisbon. Her training includes study at the Portuguese National Conservatory, the New York Film Academy in Hollywood, and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She has been active in the entertainment industry since the early 2000s, working regularly as an actress and director for children's and youth programming in television, cinema, and advertising.
In addition to her on-screen roles in Portuguese television series such as O Jogo, Lua Vermelha, and Água de Mar, Espírito Santo has built a substantial body of work in voice acting. Her voice credits include dubbing for animated series and films. In 2006, she provided the Portuguese voice for the character Irmã Dominick in the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, produced by the studio Matinha. In 2012, she voiced the character Ed in the animated series Pororo, which aired on RTP2 and was produced by the studio Audio In.
Espírito Santo's credits also include work in feature-length anime. In the Portuguese-dubbed version of the Studio Ponoc film Mary and The Witch's Flower, she voiced the character Dona Berta, known as Banks in the original version. Her other voice work includes the role of Voice Off in the 2023 series PandAtelier for Canal Panda. To further her skills in this field, she has participated in specialized workshops, including a 2011 workshop on dubbing cartoons led by Rui de Sá at the Audio In studio, and subsequent workshops in 2015 on dubbing cartoons and live-action footage with José Jorge Duarte at the ZOV studio. Her experience in dubbing and voice work extends back to at least 2005, when she began providing voices for various radio and television commercials.
