Renkinō
Description
Renkinō is a Japanese author known primarily as a creator of original light novels, many of which have been adapted into manga and anime. The creator debuted in 2015 on the Japanese novel posting platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō, where the work I Want to Become a Novelist first gained attention. Renkinō has since written over fifteen distinct novel series, with a notable focus on the slow life and isekai (other world) fantasy genres. Several of these titles have been converted into printed books or comic adaptations, and the creator is also known to write video game scenarios.
One of Renkinō’s most notable original works is Monster Eater, known in Japanese as Mamonogurai no Bōkensha. The original story began serialization on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in March 2023. Earth Star Entertainment later published the series as physical light novels. The story follows an adventurer named Rudd, who is betrayed by his party and left for dead. To survive, he breaks a taboo by consuming monster meat, discovering that this act grants him increasing power. The franchise has expanded into two distinct graphic adaptations. A webtoon version launched on LINE Manga in June 2024, and a traditional manga illustrated by TATE was also released on the Manga UP! platform. An anime adaptation of the webtoon, categorized as a light anime, was announced and scheduled to air in April on Tokyo MX. This anime project is directed by Hikaru Satō under the production of IMAGICA Infos and Imageworks Studio, with Kazuya Takahashi serving as supervisor.
In addition to Monster Eater, Renkinō has created numerous other works that have received book or manga adaptations. These titles include I Can Talk to Animals and Monsters, The Shield Hero's Success Story: Girls' Side Story, Furry Other World Adventure Messi, Summoning an Evil Other World, The Story of the Strongest Alchemist Pioneering Another World, and A Dismissed Court Alchemist Creates a Hacienda in the Outskirts. The creator's body of work consistently features protagonists navigating fantasy settings, often incorporating elements of monster taming, cooking, rural living, or job-based progression systems. Many series emphasize a relaxed pace and themes of self-sufficiency. Renkinō actively supervises the story for works converted into comics, ensuring consistency across different adaptations. The creator maintains a presence on social media, where information about ongoing projects and collaborations is occasionally shared.
