Kanata Hongo is a Japanese actor and voice actor born on November 15, 1990, in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. He began his entertainment career as a child model while in kindergarten and made his acting debut in the 2002 film Returner. He studied photography at Nihon University College of Art, graduating in 2013.

Hongo is widely recognized for his live-action roles, including his breakthrough performance as Ryoma Echizen in The Prince of Tennis film and his portrayal of Armin Arlert in the Attack on Titan live-action films. Alongside his on-screen career, he has also established himself as a voice actor in anime.

He made his voice acting debut in 2012, landing the lead role of Ryota Sakamoto in the television anime series Btooom!. In 2013, he voiced Julian Ayers Mackenzie in the science fiction series Gundam Build Fighters. A notable collaboration in his voice acting career is with the Danganronpa franchise; he voiced Ryota Mitarai in the Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School anime, a role connected to his live-action stage performances as Makoto Naegi in adaptations of the same series. In 2017, he contributed to the Pokémon franchise by providing the voice for the character Soji in the animated film Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!. Hongo's work in voice acting demonstrates a recurring involvement with adaptations of popular manga and game franchises, complementing his extensive career as a live-action actor.
