Jan Elbertse is a Dutch actor born in Soest in 1955 who has built an extensive career in theater, television, and voice acting. He studied at the kleinkunstakademie after completing a decorators' training and won the Pisuisse-prijs in 1977. In his early career, he was a member of Cabaret Vangrail and later spent fifteen years with jeugdtheater Mevrouw Smit. His work has also included presenting educational television programs and writing for radio and television.

Voice acting became a significant part of Elbertse's professional activity, particularly for Dutch-language dubs of international films and series. He is known for providing the Dutch voice of Buzz Lightyear across numerous productions, starting with the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command series in 2000 and continuing through the Toy Story films, including Toy Story 3, Toy Story 4, and various short films. He also voiced the character in Disney Infinity video games. Another prominent role was as Harry Nohara, the father, in the Dutch version of the Japanese anime series Shin Chan.

In the context of anime and animation dubbing, Elbertse voiced the character Bonji, an elderly researcher chasing the Legendary Ho-Oh, in the Dutch version of the 2017 film Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!. His other credits in animation and video games are numerous and varied. He voiced Professor Layton in the Dutch version of the video game Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. He was the voice of Jack Fenton and the Doosspook in Danny Phantom, Barry Bear in De Boze Bevers, and Butch in De Avonturen van Jimmy Neutron. He also voiced characters in films such as Enchanted as Nathaniel and Asterix & Obelix: missie Cleopatra as Julius Caesar. His work extends to video game franchises like Skylanders, where he voiced Flynn.

Elbertse's career is marked by recurring collaborations with major studios for Dutch dubs, including Disney, Pixar, and Nickelodeon, providing voices for their animated features and series over many years. His contributions to Dutch entertainment were recognized with a John Kraaijkamp Musical Award in 2007 for Beste Mannelijke bijrol in een kleine Musical for his role in Doe Maar.
