Uran

Description
Uran is a Japanese manga artist known primarily for creating works in the seinen demographic, often incorporating elements of erotic comedy. The creator is a woman originally from Fukuoka Prefecture who is currently based in Tokyo. Uran made her professional debut in 2006, and her first compiled book volume, Yuuwaku wa Akane-iro, was released by Fujimi Shuppan in 2008. In the early stages of her career, she contributed to various adult manga magazines, including Comic Penguin Club Sanzokuban and Comic Megastore H.

Uran is best known as the author and illustrator of the manga series Paradise of Innocence (Mujaki no Rakuen). The series was serialized in Hakusensha’s Young Animal Arashi magazine from April 2010 to September 2017. The chapters were compiled into thirteen tankōbon volumes. A spin-off series, Paradise of Innocence Parallel, ran in the same magazine from November 2017 to May 2018. The commercial success and recognition of Paradise of Innocence led to the production of three original animation DVDs, which were bundled with the limited-edition releases of the manga’s sixth, eighth, and tenth volumes from August 2014 to August 2016. These OADs were directed by Hideki Araki and Takashi Nishikawa at the animation studios Office No. 8 and Seven.

Following the conclusion of Paradise of Innocence, Uran launched another serialized work, Ore wa Lolicon Ja Nai! (I am Not a Lolicon), in Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine in January 2020. Prior to these serializations, Uran also released several other manga volumes, including Chichi Pedia, Ichigo Marble, Aneki Neko, Torotoro Cream Pie, and Kyoudai Chudoku (SistarHolic), which were published between 2008 and 2013.

Uran’s body of work is consistently categorized within the seinen demographic, with a recurring focus on erotic comedy narratives. The artist’s significance in the industry is demonstrated by a sustained career with major publishers like Hakusensha and the adaptation of her original manga into animated formats, marking Paradise of Innocence as her most commercially prominent and widely recognized title.
