Joseph Vossenkuhl
Description
Joseph Vossenkuhl, also known professionally as Jo Vossenkuhl, is a German actor, voice actor, and theatre director. He was born in 1962. He completed his acting education at the Zinner Studio in Munich from 1988 to 1991. Following his training, he performed at various theatres, including the Theater der Jugend in Munich and multiple Off-Theaters in the city. In 1996, he founded the Munich theatre troupe Inflagranti & Barrel, where he works as an author and director.
Since the 1990s, Vossenkuhl has been active as a freelance speaker for film, television, and radio. He has lent his voice to numerous characters in anime and animated series. His most prominent anime role is the character Momonga in the long-running series One Piece. He voices the Marine Vice-Admiral in the main series, as well as in several films, including One Piece: Episode of Merry - Die Geschichte über ein ungewöhnliches Crewmitglied (2013), One Piece: Stampede (2019), and One Piece Film: Red (2022). Beyond One Piece, his anime voice work includes roles such as Gyula Kadar in Trinity Blood, the original Replicator in Dr. Slump, Biscuit Oliva in Baki Hanma, and characters in series like Shaman King and Record of Ragnarok. He is also the German voice for the character Sniper in the video game Team Fortress 2.
In addition to his work in anime and video games, Vossenkuhl has an extensive career in other areas of voice acting. He is the German dubbing voice for Seymour Skinner in the animated series The Simpsons, a role he took over in 2021. He has also provided voices for numerous live-action films and series. A notable achievement is his long-standing work as a documentary narrator for channels such as NBC, for which he has voiced programs for its Biography and History channels, as well as for ProSieben, Sat.1, and N24. He is also an accomplished audiobook narrator, having read works by authors like Steffen Jacobsen and Belinda Bauer.
