Kunoe Miyama

Description
Kunoe Miyama, also known by the Japanese name Kunoe Miyama, is a Japanese light novelist recognized for her work in the shoujo (girls) romance genre. Miyama was born in Kanagawa Prefecture on December 9. After graduating from university with a degree in history, she spent several years writing before her career was launched when she won an honorable mention at the 29th Palette Novel Award, a contest for young adult light novels formerly sponsored by the publisher Shogakukan. Her professional writing is primarily published by Shogakukan under its Flower Comics Lululu Novels and Lululu Bunko imprints.

Miyama is the original creator of the light novel series Otome Nadeshiko Love Diary (Otome Nadeshiko Koi Techou), which was published between 2011 and 2019. The story is a Taisho period romance following a sixteen-year-old girl experiencing her first love. The series is notable for being the first shoujo light novel to be bundled with an original anime DVD. This anime adaptation, a short OVA released on January 26, 2012, was included with special editions of the second volume. The adaptation was directed by Hijiri Sanpei and featured character designs by Rei Touma, who also provided the illustrations for the novel series. The production of this anime is credited to Studio Izena.

Beyond Otome Nadeshiko Love Diary, Miyama has authored several other light novel series. Her other major works include the Maihime Renpuden (Dancing Princess Love Legend) series, its sequel Shin Maihime Renpuden, the Sakura Arashi Koi Emaki series, the Arabian Rose series, and the Futahime Monogatari series. Her body of work consistently falls within the historical romance subgenre, often set in the Taisho era or other periods of Japanese history. This reflects her personal interests, as she has stated her hobbies include visiting art exhibitions, with a strong preference for Japanese art, and watching kabuki theater. Her known motto is the contradictory phrase, possibility is preferable to escape.

The release of Otome Nadeshiko Love Diary with an anime DVD is considered a significant moment in the publishing industry for shoujo light novels, as it marked a first for the demographic. Her continued publication of series over several years, such as the multi-volume run of Otome Nadeshiko Love Diary from 2011 to 2019, demonstrates her lasting presence in the market for romantic light novels aimed at a female audience.
