Aagje Dom
Description
Aagje Dom is a Flemish actress and voice actor born in 1979 or 1980, recognized for her extensive work in dubbing animated films and television series for a Flemish-speaking audience. Her career began in 1997 with on-screen acting for the children's network Ketnet, and she pursued a theater education at the RITCS conservatory in Brussels. This foundation in dramatic arts led to a notable five-year role as Jasmijn De Ridder in the live-action Ketnet series W817, as well as various guest appearances in Flemish television productions.
Alongside her on-camera work, Dom has built a significant career as a voice actor, a field she has been active in for over fifteen years. Her dubbing portfolio includes voicing characters in major animated feature films such as Ice Age 4, Ice Age 5, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, and The Monster of Paris. For Dutch-language versions of television series, her credits are numerous and include roles in Lego Friends, The Adventures of Bibi and Tina, Bibi Blocksberg, Nijntje, and Vipo. A specific role that connects her to the anime genre is providing the Flemish voice for the character Emily in the series Glitter Force, which aired its Flemish version in 2015 and 2016. Other voice work includes the role of Colin in the Flemish dub of The Simpsons Movie and the voice of Miss BG for a Ketnet series.
Dom's professional life is uniquely characterized by a dual expertise in both the artistic and medical aspects of voice. To deepen her understanding of vocal mechanics, she studied logopedics (speech therapy) at the Lessius Hogeschool, starting in 2004, and subsequently specialized in professional and artistic voice use. Since 2009, she has run De Stemstudio, a practice where she coaches teachers, actors, and other professional speakers in achieving optimal and healthy voice use. Her academic involvement includes teaching and coaching students in logopedics at the Thomas More Hogeschool in Antwerp, where she focuses on voice optimization and guiding professional voice users. In 2020, she co-founded Make Some Voice, the first Flemish training program dedicated to voice acting, dubbing, and voice-over work, thereby contributing to the formal education of new talent in her field. Her work represents a convergence of creative performance and scientific knowledge of voice, applied both in her own dubbing career and in her extensive work as a voice coach and educator.
