Daisuke Oikawa

Description
Daisuke Oikawa is a manga creator known primarily as the original story writer for the science fiction survival manga Arata Primal: The New Primitive. This series, which was published from February to November 2019, represents his most recognized work in the industry. The manga was serialized in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ digital magazine and was later collected into four volumes comprising a total of 35 chapters.

For Arata Primal, Oikawa served as the original creator and writer, while the art was handled by illustrator Katsutoshi Murase. The series follows the protagonist, Arata, a socially awkward young man with the unintentional ability to cause electronics to malfunction. Set in the year 2027, the story begins with a worldwide blackout predicted to be caused by a solar flare. After the event occurs, Arata and a group of over one hundred people are suddenly transported thousands of years into the past, where they must use limited resources and knowledge of extinct creatures to survive.

Thematically, Arata Primal blends elements of time travel, survival horror, and conspiracy. The narrative explores a protagonist who is an outsider, relying on specialized knowledge left to him by his late mother to navigate a hostile prehistoric world. Critical reception of the series noted that while the art and survival premise were competent, the story showed signs of being cut short, resulting in a rushed conclusion with several plot threads left unresolved.

Beyond his work on Arata Primal, there is no widely documented record of other manga or anime creations from Daisuke Oikawa. His contribution to the industry is primarily defined by this single series, where his role as the original concept creator established a distinct identity separate from the series' illustrator.
