Mine

Description
The creator known as Mine is a Japanese author primarily recognized for writing light novel series, several of which have received manga adaptations. The available information about Mine's personal background, such as their date of birth or real name, is not documented in public records.

Mine began their career as a writer on the user-generated content website Shōsetsuka ni Narō, a common starting point for many light novel authors. Their first major work was the light novel series Nidome no Jinsei o Isekai de, also known as Second Life in Another World. The story follows Renya Kunugi, an elderly former soldier who is reincarnated as a young man in a fantasy world. The light novel was published by Hobby Japan under their HJ Novels imprint, with illustrations by Kabocha, and a total of eighteen volumes were released between November 2014 and May 2018. A manga adaptation illustrated by Satoru Abou was serialized online via Kadokawa Shoten's ComicWalker service from 2016 to 2021.

An anime television adaptation of Nidome no Jinsei o Isekai de was announced in May 2018, with production by Seven Arcs Pictures and a planned premiere in October 2018. However, the project was canceled on June 6, 2018. The cancellation followed controversy surrounding the series and the author. Critics pointed to material within the novels that depicted the protagonist's past in the Second Sino-Japanese War, as well as social media posts by Mine from 2012 to 2015 that contained derogatory statements about China and South Korea. Following the backlash, Mine issued an apology, deleted their past tweets, and announced the discontinuation of the web novel serialization. Hobby Japan subsequently canceled shipments of the light novel series, and the English publisher J-Novel Club suspended its release of the series.

Mine is also known for the light novel series The Strange Adventure of a Broke Mercenary, originally titled Kuitsume Youhei no Gensou Kitan. This series tells the story of Loren, a veteran mercenary who is the sole survivor of his company's annihilation and must start over as an adventurer, partnering with a sly priestess named Lapis. The series has been published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. As of November 2025, the light novel series has reached its thirteenth volume, indicating an ongoing publication history. A manga adaptation of this series has also been produced.

Mine's works typically fall within the isekai and fantasy adventure genres, often featuring protagonists with martial backgrounds who navigate new or challenging circumstances. The author's identity is consistently presented under the pen name Mine, and they do not have any documented history as a voice actor. Their career is notable for the significant controversy surrounding the adaptation of their debut work, which led to a rare instance of an anime production being canceled after its public announcement.
