Rui Takatō

Description
Rui Takatō is a Japanese manga artist and writer known for his work across various seinen manga series. Born on February 20, 1980, in Tokyo, Japan, Takatō has been active as a creator since at least 2003. He is credited as the original creator for the anime television series Battle Athletes Victory ReSTART!, which premiered in April 2021. This series serves as a sequel to the original Battle Athletes franchise from the 1990s, and Takatō first serialized the manga version, titled Battle Athletes Victory ReSTART!, from July 2020 to March 2021 under the imprint Comic Ruelle & Comic Jardin published by Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha. For the anime adaptation, the original concept is credited to Hiroki Hayashi, with Takatō specifically listed as the original creator.

Beyond his involvement with the Battle Athletes franchise, Takatō has authored numerous other manga titles. His bibliography includes works such as Cynthia the Mission, Devilman G (a part of the broader Devilman franchise), Dotsuki Manzai, Hagure Idol Jigokuhen (also known in English as Booty Royale: Never Go Down Without a Fight) along with its side story Hagure Idol Jigokuhen Gaiden - Princess Sarah, Mikarun X, Once Again!, Redman Princess, Scape-God, Tetsuman: Tekken Comic, and Voisin. His artistic identity is characterized by a focus on action-oriented seinen manga, often incorporating elements of fantasy or adult-oriented content. This is particularly evident in Hagure Idol Jigokuhen, a series that led to significant career developments for the creator.

Takatō announced his retirement from drawing manga in 2022, citing personal circumstances at home that made it difficult to consistently create content involving breasts and sex, which placed the series Hagure Idol Jigokuhen on hiatus. However, in March 2024, the manga resumed serialization, indicating that Takatō returned to creative work. This series has also inspired a live-action film adaptation that premiered in Japan in September 2020. Through his diverse body of work and the adaptation of his manga into anime, Rui Takatō has established himself as a notable figure in the Japanese manga industry.
