Shūichi Nimaru

Description
Shūichi Nimaru is a Japanese writer known for creating the light novel series Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won't Lose, which was later adapted into manga and an anime television series. Nimaru is credited as the original creator of the story, with the light novel series published under ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko imprint and featuring illustrations by Ui Shigure.

Nimaru's primary notable work is Osananajimi ga Zettai ni Makenai Love Comedy, often abbreviated as Osamake. The light novel series began publication on June 8, 2019, and concluded on February 7, 2025, spanning a total of thirteen volumes. The story follows Sueharu Maru, a former child actor, and his romantic entanglements with his childhood friend Kuroha Shida and his first love Shirokusa Kachi. The series is noted for its character names, which are references to characters from the Fire Emblem video game series, and for incorporating color themes into the names of its female characters.

The property has seen multiple adaptations. A manga adaptation illustrated by Ryō Itō was serialized in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine from November 27, 2019, to May 27, 2024, and was compiled into eight tankōbon volumes. A second manga, a spin-off titled Osananajimi ga Zettai ni Makenai Love Come: Otonari no Yon-shimai ga Zettai ni Honobono suru Nichijō with illustrations by Mutsumi Aoki, ran in the same magazine from January 27, 2021, to November 26, 2022, and was collected in three volumes. An anime television series adaptation produced by studio Doga Kobo aired from April 14 to June 30, 2021, for a total of twelve episodes.

Following the broadcast of the anime adaptation, Nimaru publicly shared his personal challenges with the project. He stated that he experienced significant distress after viewing the early episodes, which led to a six-month period where he was unable to write. Nimaru also noted a stark decline in the light novel series' commercial performance, contrasting the frequent reprints of the early volumes with a lack of reprints in the three years following the anime's airing. Despite this, he expressed his continued commitment to completing his work.
