Meguru Seto
Description
Meguru Seto is a Japanese author best known as the creator of the light novel and manga series The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter. Seto began writing the story as a web novel, serializing it on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō from January 2017 to February 2021. The series was later acquired by the major Japanese publisher Kodansha, which began releasing it as a print light novel in August 2017 under its Kodansha Ranobe Books imprint, with illustrations by Note Takehana. The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter follows Noir Stardia, a young noble who gains powerful skills from a legendary adventurer trapped within a secret dungeon, allowing him to upgrade his abilities in exchange for Life Points obtained through joyful experiences.
The success of the light novel led to a broader media franchise. A manga adaptation illustrated by Tomoyuki Hino was serialized in Kodansha's Suiyōbi no Sirius magazine from May 2018 to June 2023, collected into twelve volumes. An anime television series adaptation produced by the studio Okuruto Noboru aired from January to March 2021, consisting of twelve episodes. The English versions of both the light novel and manga are licensed and distributed in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment. Seto is also credited as the author of several other light novel series published between 2016 and 2019, including Jaryuu Tensei, Fukushuu Skill Shisha Kui to Jikan Sousa de Yuusha Party wo Zenmetsu Sasemasu, Kakushi Skill de Isekai Musou, and Kurotsukai no Saikyou Yuusha. Seto is described in publisher materials as a Japanese writer, with The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter identified as the primary work. The creator's body of work falls within the fantasy genre and often incorporates themes common to Japanese light novels, such as skill-based progression systems, harem comedy dynamics, and protagonists who gain unique advantages through secret or overlooked abilities. Seto's career follows a typical trajectory for contemporary light novelists, beginning with independent web novel serialization before transitioning to professional print publication and subsequent multimedia adaptations.
