HiRock is a Japanese manga writer and original creator, best known as the author of the science fiction series EX-ARM. HiRock is a male creator from Japan. His professional role is that of a manga screenwriter and original story author, working in collaboration with illustrators to produce complete manga works.

HiRock first came to prominence with the manga series EX-ARM, which began as a collaboration with artist Shinya Komi. The series debuted in Shueisha's Grand Jump magazine in February 2015 and was later repositioned as a remake of Komi's earlier work EX-VITA. The story later moved to the Shonen Jump+ website and app in December 2017, where it continued until its conclusion in June 2019. The complete EX-ARM manga was compiled into fourteen collected volumes.

The narrative of EX-ARM centers on Akira Natsume, a high school student who despises machines. After a traffic accident, only his brain is saved, and sixteen years later, his consciousness awakens as part of a highly advanced artificial intelligence weapon system designated EX-ARM No. 00. The story follows Akira as he cooperates with a police countermeasure division, including officer Minami Uezono and the android Alma, to recover his lost memories and retrieve his original body while confronting various criminal elements.

Following the conclusion of the main series, HiRock and Shinya Komi continued their collaboration on EX-ARM EXA, a sequel manga that serialized in Grand Jump Mucha from August 2019 to March 2021. This sequel was compiled into two final volumes, marking the conclusion of the entire EX-ARM manga franchise. The franchise also expanded into other media, including a novel adaptation titled EX-ARM THE NOVEL, written by Atarō Kumo and published in December 2018.

The original EX-ARM manga was adapted into an anime television series that premiered on January 10, 2021, directed by Kimura Yoshitaka. This adaptation brought HiRock's original story concept to a wider audience as part of the winter 2021 anime season. Prior to EX-ARM, HiRock collaborated with Shinya Komi on the manga D'z, published in November 2014. HiRock's creative identity is defined by his role as a writer who develops original manga concepts and scripts, with a recurring interest in science fiction premises involving advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and questions of human identity and memory. His work is published by Shueisha, one of Japan's major manga publishers, and his series have received international distribution in multiple languages.
