Description
Yū Toyota is a Japanese manga artist and writer. Born on February 10, she began her professional career after winning an excellence award in the 35th Athena Grand Prix for New Artists, a contest held by the publisher Hakusensha, with her debut work Nobara no Hanayome. Her early published works primarily consisted of short stories and serialized titles in the shoujo genre, including works such as Kiss ni Renzoku and Hotel la Vie en Rose. She has also created works categorized as seinen, such as Papa to Oyaji no Uchi Gohan.

Toyota is the original creator of the series Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (also known as 30-sai made Doutei da to Mahou Tsukai ni nareru rashii). The series originated on her Twitter account before being discovered by publisher Square Enix, after which it was professionally serialized on the Gangan Pixiv platform. The success of the manga led to adaptations into a television drama series and a film, establishing it as a major bestseller within the boys' love genre. Her involvement as the original creator extends to related anime productions, such as the Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! anime and its accompanying short format series, Cheri Maho Mini Gekijō.

Toyota's body of work spans multiple demographics, including both shoujo and seinen magazines, with a notable shift in genre from earlier romantic comedies and dramas to the boys' love genre for which she gained widespread recognition. Beyond her creative work, she has drawn attention for her public engagement with social issues. Following the success of the Cherry Magic adaptations, she publicly disclosed that she had donated a portion of her royalties to the organization Marriage For All Japan, which advocates for marriage equality. This act was noted as a public declaration aimed at leveraging her media visibility to support the cause.
