Yūji Nakamura
Description
Yūji Nakamura is a Japanese manga artist and original creator, recognized primarily as the author and illustrator of the manga series Rokudō no Onna-tachi. His professional career began in 2013 when he made his debut with the one-shot Hizamazuke Buta Yarou, a work that earned the 83rd Shōnen Champion Rookie Manga Award.
Nakamura’s most significant and defining work is Rokudō no Onna-tachi, which was serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine. The series ran for approximately five years, from June 2016 to April 2021, and was compiled into 26 tankōbon volumes. The story centers on Tōsuke Rokudō, a high school student who discovers that a family heirloom meant to ward off demons instead grants him an unusual ability: it makes him irresistibly attractive to delinquent girls, setting off a chain of comedic and romantic conflicts. The series blends romantic comedy with elements of delinquent culture and action.
The success of the manga led to a television anime adaptation. Produced by the studio Satelight, the anime series aired from April to June 2023, spanning 12 episodes. In this adaptation, Yūji Nakamura is officially credited as the original creator, the source material upon which the anime is based.
While much of his public profile is defined by this single series, his artistic identity is closely tied to its recurring themes. Rokudō no Onna-tachi explores the contrast between weakness and strength, the comedic dynamics of an unconventional harem, and the reformation of delinquent characters through their relationships with a kind-hearted protagonist. The series’ publication run of 26 volumes and its subsequent anime adaptation mark a significant achievement, establishing him as a creator who achieved a long-running serialization and a multimedia adaptation for a work within the shōnen demographic.
