Aya Nakahara is a Japanese manga artist known for creating romantic comedy series, most notably Lovely Complex. She was born on July 28, 1973, in Osaka Prefecture, Japan, and made her professional debut as a manga creator in 1995.
Nakahara is best recognized as the author and illustrator of Lovely Complex, which was serialized in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine from August 2001 to August 2007. The complete series was collected in seventeen tankobon volumes. For this work, she received the 49th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōjo category in 2004. The series centers on the relationship between a tall high school girl, Risa Koizumi, and a short boy, Atsushi Otani, who are often treated as a comedic duo by their classmates due to their height difference.
