Arata Shiraishi

Arata Shiraishi is a Japanese writer known for creating original stories for several light novel and manga series, primarily within the fantasy and isekai genres. Shiraishi first gained attention by publishing web novels on the user-generated platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō, a common starting point for many successful light novel authors. The light novel series I'm Just a Villager, So What? (Murabito desu ga Nani ka?) was among Shiraishi's early professional works, with the first volume released by Kadokawa in 2016 and the series concluding with its seventh volume in 2020.
Shiraishi is the author of the light novel series From Overshadowed to Overpowered: Second Reincarnation of a Talentless Sage. The story was originally published as a web novel in 2018 before being acquired by Kadokawa Shoten, which released eight light novel volumes under its Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint between October 2019 and March 2022. A manga adaptation illustrated by Kentarō began serialization on Square Enix's Manga Up! service in September 2019. An anime television series adaptation produced by EMT Squared is scheduled to premiere in July 2026.

Beyond From Overshadowed to Overpowered, Shiraishi created the original story for the light novel That Inferior Knight, Level 999, which SB Creative published in two volumes in 2019 with illustrations by Kazutomo Miya; a manga adaptation illustrated by Chihiro Yamazaki ran on Manga Up! from July 2019 until its conclusion in February 2025. Shiraishi is also credited for the original story of the manga Back from Isekai, with multiple volumes published in 2024 and 2025. In August 2025, Shiraishi launched a new manga titled Kōjo Tensei ~Densetsu no Dai Madōshi (♂), Hime Kishi to Narite Densetsu no Reijō Kishi-dan wo Tsukuri Musō Suru~ on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket service, with Naka Nanatsu providing the artwork.
