Chitose Yagami
Description
Chitose Yagami is a Japanese manga artist born on May 18, 1969, in Nagoya, located in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. She made her professional debut in 2001 with the work Magical ✰ Project, and prior to her debut, she used the pen name Nekogami Chitose. Her professional output is closely associated with Shogakukan, and she has primarily worked within the pages of the publisher's monthly shōjo manga magazines, particularly Ciao and ChuChu.
Yagami has built a substantial body of work over her career, with many of her series being serialized in Ciao. Her notable manga titles include Fall in Love Like a Comic!, which was also released in English by Viz Media; Kiss x Kiss; My Platinum Lady; and the series Caramel Kiss. Another significant work is Kings of My Love, originally serialized as Ore-sama Kingudamu, which has been published in multiple collected volumes and represents one of her longer-running series. The strong popularity of her works has led to adaptations in other media. The manga Ore-sama Kingdom, for example, was adapted into an original animated video (OAV) titled Ore-sama Kingdom: Gelände de Love Choco no Maki, for which Yagami is credited as the original creator. Additionally, the Kiss x Kiss series was adapted into a romance simulation game for the Game Boy Advance, and the Kings of My Love franchise saw a game release for the Nintendo 3DS platform.
As a creator, Yagami’s artistic identity is rooted in the shōjo genre, with her stories typically focusing on themes of school life, romance, and comedy. Her works often center on the dynamics of young love, frequently featuring protagonists navigating relationships with popular or charismatic male leads, a common thread in series like Kings of My Love and Kiss x Kiss. Her long-standing association with Ciao magazine, a leading publication for young girls in Japan, underscores her role as a consistent contributor to the demographic. Beyond her creative work, some personal details have been documented, such as her blood type being A, her enjoyment of coffee and tea, and a personal fondness for keeping parakeets as pets.
