Mauriett Chayeb-Mendez

Description
Mauriett Chayeb-Mendez is an American voice actor based in Miami, Florida, known for her work in English dubs of anime series and animated films. Her career in entertainment began behind the scenes, where she spent over a decade working as a production assistant on film and television projects for networks including VH1, MTV, and A24. She holds a degree in Mass Communication from the University of South Florida.

Her transition to voice acting was initiated by a chance discovery of a Craigslist advertisement seeking voice talent. She successfully auditioned and was cast in the English dub of the Japanese anime series Captain Tsubasa, which became her first voice acting role and led to her featuring in over 50 episodes. This opportunity marked the beginning of a new career trajectory, and she has since voiced characters in more than sixty series and thirty films.

Chayeb-Mendez has built an extensive portfolio of voice work in English-language adaptations of popular anime franchises. She is notably recognized for her long-running role as Miss Mimi in numerous films of the enduring Soreike! Anpanman series. Her credits within this franchise include Soreike! Anpanman: Yōsei Rinrin no Himitsu, Soreike! Anpanman: Ringo Bōya to Minna no Negai, and many other installments. She has also contributed a wide range of voices to the long-running series Case Closed, also known as Detective Conan, lending her voice to multiple episodic characters in the 2023 English dub, including Nanase Oizumi. Another significant role is providing the English voice for the character Ayame Sarutobi, also known as Sacchan, in the later seasons of the acclaimed anime series Gintama, which streams on Disney Plus.

In addition to her anime work, Chayeb-Mendez has voiced characters in various animated films and series. She provided the English voice for the character Strelka in the animated film Space Dogs: Tropical Adventure, a role that saw her work on a project with international distribution. Her other film credits include the character Jiu Wei in Goodbye Monster and a role in Inspector Sun. She has also voiced the character Goddess Eliatrope in the fourth season of the French animated series Wakfu.

Throughout her career, Chayeb-Mendez has frequently collaborated with specific recording studios in the Miami area, including The Macias Group and Centauro. Operating without an agent and as a non-union professional, she has built a career within what she describes as Miami's active "secret dubbing world," working on a global marketplace for content. Her bilingual capabilities have been a part of her professional background, stemming from her upbringing in Hialeah, Florida, as the daughter of a Syrian father and Cuban mother.

Beyond her performance work, Chayeb-Mendez has created a free program called Use Your Voice in collaboration with the Miami-Dade Public Library System. The program aims to inspire students by sharing her career journey and the importance of perseverance and imagination.
