Valter Santos, born Valter Borges dos Santos on October 16, 1954, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was a Brazilian actor and voice actor. He passed away on December 24, 2013, in São Paulo. His career began with training at the National Conservatory Theatre in Rio de Janeiro, and he built a substantial body of work across theater, television, and dubbing.
In voice acting, Santos was particularly recognized for his contributions to Brazilian dubs of anime. He voiced Wakakuni Fuzuchi in the Portuguese-dubbed version of the series Eight Clouds Rising, also known as Yakumo Tatsu. His filmography includes a wide array of other anime roles, such as Camus of Aquarius and Jamian of Crow in the various Saint Seiya (Knights of the Zodiac) series and films. He also provided voices for Raijuuta in Rurouni Kenshin, Enma Daioh in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT, Silva and Hao in Shaman King, and Mestre O in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. Other credits include roles in Naruto, Initial D, Pokémon, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
Beyond anime, Santos's voice work extended to other animated series, including the Green Goblin in a Brazilian dub of Spider-Man. He also had an extensive career as a live-action actor in Brazilian television, appearing in numerous telenovelas and miniseries such as Sinhá Moça, Roque Santeiro, and O Brado Retumbante. For his theatrical work, he received an award from the Associação Paulista de Críticos de Arte (APCA) for his performance in the play The Week. In the final year of his life, he worked as a supervisor, director, and occasional narrator for Portuguese-language episodes of the National Geographic Channel.
