Takanori Nishikawa

Description
Takanori Nishikawa is a Japanese entertainer whose primary career as a musician and singer is closely intertwined with the world of anime, leading to a distinctive body of work as a voice actor. Born on September 19, 1970, in Shiga Prefecture, he initially gained fame under the stage name T.M.Revolution, a solo project launched in 1996. His powerful vocals and energetic performances quickly made him a sought-after artist for anime theme songs, creating a natural bridge to voice acting. In 2017, he began using his real name professionally while continuing his musical work.

Nishikawa's voice acting career began in 1996 with a role in the series Rurouni Kenshin, which also featured one of his early hit songs as an ending theme. This pattern of performing music and voicing a character became a hallmark of his involvement with the Gundam franchise. For Mobile Suit Gundam SEED in 2002, he not only performed the opening theme song Invoke but also provided the voice for the character Miguel Aiman. He reprised this dual role for its sequel, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, voicing Heine Westenfluss, a character reportedly inspired by Nishikawa's own appearance from his time in the visual kei band Luis-Mary. His connection to the Gundam series, particularly with director Mitsuo Fukuda, has made him a recurring guest in the franchise.

In a unique collaboration, Nishikawa's voice acting took center stage in the Thunderbolt Fantasy puppet television series. After a puppet resembling him was created for a live event, series creator Gen Urobuchi offered him the role of Lang Wu Yao, which he first voiced in Thunderbolt Fantasy: Tōriken Yūki 2 in 2018. He has since reprised this role in subsequent installments, including Thunderbolt Fantasy: Tōriken Yūki 3 and the fourth series, Thunderbolt Fantasy: Tōriken Yūki 4, as well as film projects like Thunderbolt Fantasy: Seiyū Genka.

His other notable voice roles include the character Gon in the anime adaptation of Pop Team Epic and the popular video game character Arataki Itto in the global phenomenon Genshin Impact, a role he began voicing in Japanese in 2021. He has also been involved in the Sengoku Basara franchise, performing theme songs and voicing characters in projects like Sengoku Basara: Judge End.

Beyond individual roles, Nishikawa has demonstrated recurring collaborations within the industry. His relationship with director Mitsuo Fukuda led to his sustained participation in the Gundam SEED universe. He has also served as the comprehensive producer for the B-Project media mix project, which includes an anime adaptation, highlighting his influence beyond performance.

Nishikawa's contributions to anime extend beyond his voice work. His music as T.M.Revolution and with his band abingdon boys school has opened numerous anime series, including Rurouni Kenshin, Gundam SEED, Bleach, and Edens Zero. His multifaceted career has made him a prominent figure in Japanese pop culture, recognized for his powerful singing voice, distinctive physical presence, and enthusiastic engagement with fan communities. He has also received awards for his physique and serves as a tourism ambassador for his home prefecture, Shiga.
