She was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, and her career began in 1992. The name Miho Kuwagata is one of several stage names used by the artist, with her primary alias being Habuki Risato. Her other pseudonyms include Yuu Ayase, Ayumu Kawase, Miho Sakurai, and Hiromi Tamaki. She was previously affiliated with the talent management firms RME and Kekke Corporation.
