Sanae Mizuki is a veteran Japanese voice actress born on April 2, 1959, in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. She began her career in the early 1980s after being selected from a large pool of applicants in a voice acting contest hosted by Nippon Broadcasting in 1980 while she was still a university student. Following this, she trained at the Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society, also known as Haikyo, and studied under various acting coaches, which led to her professional debut. Throughout her career, she has been affiliated with several talent agencies, including Arts Vision and 81 Produce.
Mizuki is known for a wide range of major anime roles across several decades. One of her earliest breakthrough roles was as Shammy Milliome in the influential 1982 series Super Dimension Fortress Macross, a role she later reprised in the film Macross: Do You Remember Love?. In the same year, she also voiced Rinze Eto in Tokimeki Tonight. She gained further recognition in the 1980s for roles such as Mint Labule in Genesis Climber Mospeada, Lynn Russell in Lady Lady!!, and the title character in Dream-Star Button Nose. Her most iconic role from the 1990s is Botan in the widely popular series Yu Yu Hakusho, a part she played in both the television series and subsequent movies. Other notable credits include roles in Maison Ikkoku, Chinpui, Akuma-kun, and providing the voice for the character Urara Asagiri in the original anime video The Roommate.
