Naoshi Komi

Description
Naoshi Komi is a Japanese manga artist born on March 28, 1986 in Tsuno, Japan. He is best known as the creator of the popular romantic comedy series Nisekoi, which became a major media franchise. Komi began his professional career by debuting in Akamaru Jump in 2007. His first serialized work in Weekly Shōnen Jump was Double Arts, which ran in 2008 and was collected into three tankōbon volumes. He has cited the long-running series One Piece as one of his major influences.

Komi's most famous work, Nisekoi, was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2011 to 2016. The story follows Raku Ichijou, the heir to a yakuza family, who is forced into a fake romantic relationship with Chitoge Kirisaki, the daughter of a rival gang leader, in order to maintain peace between the two factions. The series was a significant commercial success and has spawned a wider media franchise. This includes an anime television adaptation, as well as a live-action film. Among the various spin-offs and adaptations stemming from the Nisekoi universe is the manga Magical Pâtissière Kosaki-Chan!!, for which Komi is credited as the original creator.

Beyond his major serializations, Komi has produced numerous one-shot manga and short works. These include early titles such as Island, Koi no Kami-sama, Williams, Apple, and Personant. After Nisekoi concluded, he published the short story Toki Doki in 2016, followed by e No Genten: Starting Point in 2018. In 2021, he contributed to the One Piece Cover Comic Project by recreating chapters from Eiichiro Oda's series in his own style with ONE PIECE: Vivi no Bouken. He also released a short story titled Seijo no Chi in Jump GIGA in 2022. His body of work establishes him as a prominent figure in shōnen manga, particularly within the romance and comedy genres, with a significant industry impact demonstrated by the successful multi-media expansion of his flagship title, Nisekoi.
