Jin-pyo Park

Description
Jin-pyo Park is a South Korean manhwa artist whose career began in the late 1990s and who gained recognition for his work in romantic fantasy comics. He made his debut in 1997 with the short story Rain, published in the Korean magazine Issue. His first major serialized work, You’re My Sunshine, ran from 2001 to 2003 in Wink magazine and was collected into six volumes. The series established his reputation for combining contemporary romance with subtle fantasy elements and was among his earliest titles to receive international translation.

Following that success, Park created The Queen’s Knight, serialized in Issue from 2004 to 2007 and later compiled into eleven volumes. The series became one of his most widely distributed works abroad, particularly through English-language publication in North America. While his manhwa have been translated into Japanese, English, and several European languages, none of his original works have been adapted into anime or live-action television drama.

Park’s stories frequently explore identity, self-discovery, and the negotiation between personal desire and social expectation. His art is noted for detailed linework, expressive character design, and a balance of lighthearted humor with emotional depth. During the 2000s, his publications contributed to the growing overseas readership for Korean comics, placing him among the creators who helped expand the international presence of manhwa during that period.
