Eriko Imai
Description
Eriko Imai is a Japanese entertainer and politician who has worked as a singer, actress, and voice actor. Born on September 22, 1983, in Okinawa, Japan, she first rose to national fame in the mid-1990s as a member of the highly successful pop group Speed. Following the group's disbandment in 2000, she pursued a solo career in music, which also led to opportunities in acting and voice work.
Imai's sole credited role as an anime voice actor is in the 2003 film Boku no Son Goku. In this animated movie, she provided the voice for the character Ai-Ling. Her involvement with the project extended beyond voice acting, as she also performed the film's theme song, titled Butterfly, which she wrote under the name Elly.
While her direct contribution to anime voice acting is limited to this single role, her broader career includes significant achievements in related performance fields. She has appeared in several live-action films, including the 2001 fantasy film Onmyoji and its 2003 sequel Onmyoji 2, in which she played the role of a magic spirit named Mitsumushi. Her work in theatre has also been recognized; she received the Best Newcomer in Theatre award at the Golden Arrow Awards in 2001 for her performance in the musical Ninagawa Hi no Tori. Later in her career, Imai transitioned into politics, being elected as a member of the House of Councillors in the Japanese Diet in 2016.
