Description
Cory Phillips is an American voice actor based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who has been active in the anime dubbing industry since the late 2010s. Before pursuing voice acting, he developed a foundation in performance through church dramas beginning at age fourteen and later discovered a passion for improvisational comedy. After high school, he founded his own improv troupe and a production company called Take One Productions, through which he performed across the United States and created content, including a self-produced Doctor Who spinoff series titled Soldier Stories, for over a decade.
His entry into anime voice acting was marked by debut roles in several major long-running series, including Tokyo Ghoul, One Piece, and My Hero Academia. He has since built a career as a prolific voice actor, frequently working on English dubs produced by Funimation (now known as Crunchyroll). His work spans a wide variety of supporting and guest roles across numerous popular franchises. A 2021 podcast appearance highlighted the breadth of his early career, noting his appearances in Attack on Titan, Black Clover, No Guns Life, Radiant, and his role as Orochi in Fairy Tail.
Among his more prominent roles is Yona in the second season of the supernatural action series Fire Force. Yona is a sadistic and ancient member of the White-Clad organization known for his ability to manipulate flames to sculpt faces. Phillips also voices You Hattori in the otome game adaptation Stand My Heroes: Piece of Truth, a mystery series centered on a special narcotics unit. In the sports anime Shoot! Goal to the Future, a sequel series set in the world of competitive high school soccer, he provides the voice for the character Ryu Sahara.
