Masahito Kagawa is a Japanese manga author and screenwriter born on May 12, 1960, in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. His career as a creator began with a foundation in film and screenwriting before transitioning into manga. During high school, he produced 8-millimeter films with classmates. In university, he was a member of the manga research club, where his contemporaries included notable manga artists such as岩明均 (Hitoshi Iwaaki). In 1983, his film "Seishun" won the Oomori Kazuki Award at the Pia Film Festival, followed by the Oshima Nagisa Award in 1984 for "Baskurinnight." He made his debut as a screenwriter in 1990 with the original video production "Nekketsu Houkago Club." Shortly thereafter, he debuted as a manga author after winning the grand prize in Kodansha's "Shonen Magazine Comic Planner Award" for his work "Shinda Mimi."
