Description
Nanae Sumitomo is a Japanese voice actress and narrator affiliated with the talent agency Aoni Production. She was born on July 27 in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. Sumitomo is a graduate of Osaka Kyoiku University and is also a graduate of the 7th class of Aoni Juku Osaka, the training school operated by her agency.
Sumitomo began her professional career in the 1990s. Her early work included numerous supporting roles in prominent anime series of the era. She appeared in television animations such as Slam Dunk, Ghost Sweeper Mikami, and Marmalade Boy. In the Sailor Moon series, she provided voices for various characters and also served as a replacement voice for the role of Minako Aino / Sailor Venus in Sailor Moon S and Sailor Moon SuperS. She was also part of the cast for the long-running series Crayon Shin-chan, credited with playing the role of the heroine.
Among her notable anime roles are Mari Kawai in Slam Dunk, and Mica and Momo in the 2006 series erico. In 2002, she voiced the character Haruko Jinguji in the television series Baby Baachan. Her film work includes a role in the 2022 feature film Suzume.
Beyond anime, Sumitomo has an extensive career in voice acting for video games and foreign language dubbing. She is known for voicing the character Toad (Kinopio) in several Super Mario video games for the Super Famicom's BS-X broadcasting system, including BS Super Mario Collection and BS Super Mario USA Power Challenge.
