Aooni Yamane

Description
Aooni Yamane is a Japanese manga artist recognized as the original creator of the anime television series Tantei Shounen Kageman (Detective Boy Shadowman), which aired from 2001 to 2002. Yamane was born in the Akasaka district of Tokyo on August 16, 1935, and is a twin; his brother is also a manga artist who works under the name Akaoni Yamane.

During his early career, Yamane became a disciple of Suiho Tagawa, the renowned creator of the popular manga Norakuro. Along with his twin brother, he studied under Tagawa, and in 1949, he inherited the writing rights for the Norakuro series. Yamane continues to be associated with this legacy, serializing the work Norakuro-chan in a publication tied to Tagawa’s official museum.

In the 1960s, Aooni Yamane began establishing his own independent career. His early work included a collaboration with his brother on the comedy manga Dekochin, which was serialized in Shonen Gaho magazine starting in 1963. Yamane later continued the series on his own. He also created the manga Little Naruhesu (Naruhesukun), which was serialized in Weekly Shonen King magazine beginning in 1965.

Yamane’s most prominent work for a modern audience is Tantei Shounen Kageman. The original manga was adapted into a 38-episode television anime series produced by Studio Hibari, which first broadcast in Japan from April 2001 to January 2002. The series follows the adventures of a young boy, known as Kageman, who aspires to become the world’s greatest detective.

His career has been notably long-running, and he has continued to produce manga into his later years. He is also known for writing Dr. Doji, which has been serialized for over fifty years in a bulletin published by a medical cooperative.
