Kyōka Tamura

Kyoka Tamura is a Japanese voice actress and singer from Wakayama Prefecture, born on October 16, 1996. She is affiliated with the agency Millennium Pro. Her career began after she won a grand prix at an anime voice actor audition held by Human Academy, which led to her training at both Human Academy Shinjuku and Yaoyorozu Voice Lab. She made her voice acting debut in 2017 with the role of Gentoo Penguin in the television anime Kemono Friends.
Tamura's career is most closely associated with the Kemono Friends franchise. Her debut role as the Gentoo Penguin, a member of the penguin idol unit PPP (Payapaya Penguins), became a defining part of her early career. As part of PPP, she participated in extensive musical activities. The collaboration unit of PPP and fellow performers Doubutsu Biscuits performed the anime's opening theme song, Youkoso Japari Park e. This success led to television appearances on prestigious music programs such as Music Station and the FNS Kayosai. In 2018, as a member of Doubutsu Biscuits x PPP, she was a recipient of the Singing Award at the 12th Seiyu Awards.
Beyond voice acting, Tamura has been active in stage performances, music, and live-action media. She has reprised her role as Gentoo Penguin in multiple stage adaptations of Kemono Friends. In 2017, she began appearing in a regular Niconico live program for Kemono Friends, which led to the formation of a voice actor unit, Chiku☆tamu, with fellow PPP cast member Yukiko Tsukida. The unit made a major debut in 2018 with the single Doubutsu! Yo-i Don!. Tamura also wrote and composed the song Kitto for a mini-album released in 2019. Her work extends to live-action film and television, with appearances in movies such as Fly Me to Saitama: From Biwako with Love and If Tokugawa Ieyasu Became Prime Minister, as well as guest roles in television dramas like Living no Matsunaga-san.
She has also taken on roles in video games, including Gentoo Penguin in Kemono Friends 3, and the character Iriomotejima Yahae in the温泉むすめ (Onsen Musume) project. In 2024, she voiced the character Itari Mikazuki in the anime Rinkai!. Outside of entertainment, Tamura was selected from a large audition to become an official ambassador for a keirin (bicycle racing) promotion unit, Keirin Marche, in 2019, and continues to appear in related programming. In recognition of her personal connection to the area, she was appointed as a tourism ambassador for Tokashiki Village in Okinawa Prefecture in 2023.
