Marie-Christine Darah, known professionally as Maïk Darah, is a French actress and artistic director born on February 7, 1954, in Pantin, France. She is a major figure in French dubbing, having lent her voice to several thousand productions over her extensive career. Her early artistic training began in childhood, performing in operettas at the Théâtre du Châtelet from the age of nine, followed by training at the Paris Opera Dance School and later taking theatre, singing, and various dance styles classes as a teenager.
While Darah is widely recognized as the regular French voice for prominent actresses such as Whoopi Goldberg, Angela Bassett, Viola Davis, and Queen Latifah, she also has an extensive body of work in animation and anime. Her contributions to anime include a variety of significant roles. She voiced multiple characters in the series B't X, including Aramis, Jutaime, and Misha, as well as the mother of the protagonist Teppei. In the same vein, she also performed for its sequel, B't X Neo. For the series Arrow Emblem Grand Prix no Taka, she provided the voices for Clara and Patricia Clark. In the popular series Death Note, she voiced the Shinigami Rem. More recently, she took on the role of Mère-Grand in The Promised Neverland. Her other anime credits include Kanoe in X, Charlotte de Polignac and Jeanne de la Motte in The Rose of Versailles, Tamara in Cyborg 009, Grizelda in Cybersix, and Vanessa Enoteca in Black Clover.
