Takumi Hiiragiboshi

Description
Takumi Hiiragiboshi is a Japanese author and screenwriter, primarily known as the creator of the light novel series Absolute Duo. He made his professional writing debut in 2012 with the first volume of Absolute Duo, which was published by Media Factory under their MF Bunko J imprint. Prior to his career in publishing, Hiiragiboshi studied at the Amusement Media General Academy, where he graduated from the Novel Department. He has also been involved in creating scenarios for video games as a freelance writer.

Hiiragiboshi is best recognized as the original creator of Absolute Duo, a work that expanded from its source material into a multimedia franchise. The light novel series ran for a total of eleven volumes, concluding in July 2016. The story is set in a school where students manifest weapons known as Blaze from their souls, and it follows a protagonist whose weapon unusually takes the form of a shield.

The Absolute Duo franchise includes two manga adaptations. The first, illustrated by Shinichirou Nariie, began serialization in Monthly Comic Alive in April 2013. The second, a shorter series titled Absolute Duo Tea Party illustrated by Toru Oiwaka, ran from October to December 2014. An anime television adaptation produced by the studio Eight Bit aired twelve episodes from January to March 2015, bringing the story to a wider audience.

The creator's body of work is largely defined by the action fantasy genre, incorporating elements of school life and supernatural combat. Thematically, Absolute Duo focuses on partnership through its Duo system, where students are paired as battle and roommates, as well as themes of revenge and overcoming adversity with an unconventional ability. While Absolute Duo remains his most prominent and documented work, Hiiragiboshi is recognized in the industry as a light novel author who successfully transitioned his original story into a complete anime and manga franchise in the mid-2010s.
