The artist, whose real name is Keisuke Hino, was born on May 9, 1984, in Fukuoka Prefecture, and works under the pen name Soborou, occasionally using the alternative name Soboro in adult works.
Soborou gained significant recognition with Why the Hell Are You Here, Teacher!? (Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!?), which began as a series of one-shot chapters under the title Golden Times before being serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine. The series follows various pairs of female teachers and male students who repeatedly find themselves in embarrassing and provocative situations, gradually developing romantic relationships across different story arcs. The work was adapted into a 12-episode anime television series that aired from April to June 2019, produced by Tear Studio, with Hiraku Kaneko serving as chief director and Toshikatsu Tokoro as director. An original video animation episode followed in December 2019. For the adaptation, Soborou received credit both as the original creator of the manga and for the original character designs. The anime was licensed internationally by Sentai Filmworks and distributed on streaming platforms including HIDIVE and Crunchyroll.
Beyond his best-known work, Soborou collaborated with writer Shigemitsu Harada on the manga Love and Peace, which was serialized in Monthly Shonen Magazine from August 2022 to October 2023, with its third and final compiled volume released in December 2023. In August 2025, it was announced that Soborou would launch a new manga series titled Jukebox through Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket digital platform, with release scheduled for August 23 of that year.
