Fumita Yanagida is a Japanese manga artist best known as the creator of the romantic comedy series Tomo-chan Is a Girl!. The series, which follows the tomboy Tomo Aizawa in her comedic efforts to win the heart of her oblivious childhood friend, marked Yanagida's professional debut as a manga creator. Tomo-chan Is a Girl! began serialization as a four-panel web manga on April 7, 2015, and concluded on July 14, 2019, amassing over 950 chapters. The series was compiled into eight tankōbon volumes by Kodansha. In 2016, the series won the Next Manga Award in the web manga category.

Before this commercial success, Yanagida created doujinshi, or self-published works, under the circle name Seibunkaken. Prior to creating Tomo-chan Is a Girl!, Yanagida had a background drawing hentai, though the fan service in this particular series is significantly toned down compared to his earlier work.

The popularity of the original manga led to a television anime adaptation. The anime Tomo-chan Is a Girl! premiered in January 2023 and was produced by the studio Lay-duce, with Hitoshi Namba serving as director. The anime adaptation ran for 13 episodes and concluded the core storyline from the manga. Fumita Yanagida is credited as the original creator for the anime adaptation. The English-language version of the manga was licensed and released by Seven Seas Entertainment.
