Michael Donovan is a Canadian voice actor and voice director with a career spanning several decades, known for his extensive work in animation and anime. He was born on June 12, 1953, in Vancouver, British Columbia, and has been active in the voice acting industry since 1984. Throughout his career, he has provided voices for numerous television series, films, and video games, working with various studios, including The Ocean Group in Vancouver, before relocating to Los Angeles.

Donovan voiced a wide array of characters in the English adaptation of the Funky Fables series, an anthology of classic stories that was part of the Hirake! Ponkikki program in Japan and dubbed into English by Saban Entertainment in the early 1990s. His roles in this series were numerous and varied, demonstrating his vocal range. In the episode The Rollicking Adventures of Robin Hood, he voiced the titular character, Robin Hood. For A Christmas Carol, he took on the role of Jacob Marley. In The Wizard of Oz, he was the voice of the Cowardly Lion. The Nutcracker segment featured him in two roles, as both the Nutcracker and the Prince. His other roles in the series included Burt in An Excellent Journey to the Center of the Earth and Dr. Livesey and Ben Gunn in Treasure Island.

Beyond Funky Fables, Donovan is recognized for a significant body of work in anime. He is perhaps best known as the original English voice of Ryoga Hibiki in the classic series Ranma ½. He also voiced Suikotsu in Inuyasha, as well as Cye of Torrent and Sage of Halo in Ronin Warriors. His other notable anime credits include Master Roshi in the early English dubs of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies, Zouken Mato in Fate/Zero, and Guile and Zangief in the Street Fighter animated series.

In addition to his work in front of the microphone, Michael Donovan has had a prolific career as a voice director. He has directed English dubs for a vast number of animated series and films, including Tom and Jerry Tales, Care Bears, Oban Star-Racers, and numerous Lego productions such as Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu and Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures. His extensive contributions to the industry have made him a prominent figure in Canadian and American voice acting.
