Satsuki Nakamura is a Japanese writer recognized as the original creator of the light novel and manga series Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court.
The series Though I Am an Inept Villainess originated as a web novel posted by Nakamura on the user-generated content site Shōsetsuka ni Narō, where it began serialization in July 2020. The story's popularity led to a print publication deal, and the first light novel volume, featuring illustrations by YukiKana, was released by the publisher Ichijinsha in December 2020. The series is published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. Beyond this flagship work, Nakamura has also authored other light novel series, including Muyoku no Seijo, Kifujin Rosa wa Kage kara Mimamoritai, and Shaba no Futsuu wa Muzukashii.
In addition to the original light novels, the narrative of Though I Am an Inept Villainess has been adapted into a manga. The manga adaptation is illustrated by Ei Ohitsuji and began serialization in Ichijinsha’s Monthly Comic Zero Sum magazine, also debuting in December 2020. As the original creator, Nakamura is credited with the story for the manga series as well. The franchise has further expanded into a planned anime television series; the adaptation was announced in March 2025 and is being produced by the studio Doga Kobo. The series has also seen commercial success, winning the grand prize in the light novel category at the Minna ga Erabu!! Denshi Comic Taishō 2023 competition.
