Description
Ennki Hakari is a Japanese author recognized as the original creator of the light novel series Skeleton Knight in Another World. The author is also credited under the name Enki Hakari. Public records indicate a birth date of September 24 and origin from Osaka Prefecture.
Hakari began the Skeleton Knight in Another World series as a web novel published on the user-generated content site Shōsetsuka ni Narō in October 2014. The series was later acquired for print publication by Overlap, with the first light novel volume released in June 2015 under the Overlap Novels imprint. The light novel features illustrations by artist KeG. The series has since been translated into multiple languages for international release, including English editions published by Seven Seas Entertainment.
The success of the light novel led to a manga adaptation, which began serialization in Overlap's Comic Gardo website in February 2017. The manga is illustrated by Akira Sawano. This adaptation has been compiled into multiple collected volumes released both in Japan and in English-language markets.
In 2022, the property was adapted into an anime television series. The anime, produced by Studio Kai and Hornets, aired during the Spring 2022 broadcast season. For this adaptation, Hakari received official credit as the original creator of the source material, with Takeshi Kikuchi handling series composition and screenplay duties. An anime film or second season project, listed as Skeleton Knight in Another World II, has also been announced.
Hakari remains primarily associated with the Skeleton Knight in Another World franchise. The work falls within the isekai genre, where a protagonist is transported into a fantasy game world. The narrative follows a player who awakens in the body of his MMORPG avatar, a skilled knight with a skeletal appearance, and must navigate the social challenges of his monstrous visage while fighting injustice. The series blends fantasy adventure with action-comedy elements, as the protagonist uses his high-level game abilities to protect others despite trying to maintain a low profile.
