Itokichi

Description
Itokichi is a Japanese manga artist and writer, recognized as the original creator behind several works that have been adapted into anime. The creator is best known for the manga Orenchi no Furo Jijō, which began serialization in 2011. Itokichi is responsible for both the story and the artwork of this series. The manga is a supernatural comedy that centers on a high school boy named Tatsumi and a self-absorbed merman named Wakasa, who takes up residence in Tatsumi's bathtub. The series is noted for flipping the popular monster girl genre by focusing on male mythical creatures. Orenchi no Furo Jijō was adapted into a short-form television anime series that premiered in 2014. For this anime adaptation, Itokichi received credit as the original creator, for the original manga, and for the original character designs. In 2022, the series was also adapted into a live-action television drama. Internationally, the manga is published in English under the title Merman in My Tub. Itokichi has also contributed as a writer and artist to official anthology works based on other popular franchises, including Sasaki and Miyano and Touken Ranbu. Across these projects, a recurring element in Itokichi's work is the humorous and sometimes chaotic domestic life shared by human characters and supernatural male beings.
