Dall-Young Lim

Description
Dall-Young Lim is a South Korean writer and creator born on June 14, 1977, known for scripting numerous manhwa and manga series that have been adapted into popular anime television productions. He is the founder of Artlim Media, a creative group established in 1999, and has also worked under the pen name Moonzero.

Lim began his professional career with the manhwa series Zero, which debuted in 2000. His role in the creative process is primarily that of a storyteller and scriptwriter, typically providing the narrative, plot outlines, and rough storyboards for a project. He is not typically the final illustrator of his most famous works, as he regularly collaborates with a rotating team of artists. Among his frequent artistic partners are Park Sung-woo, Kwang-Hyun Kim, and Soo-Hyun Lee.

Lim is best known as the original creator behind several series that have achieved international recognition through anime adaptations. The manga Black God, created with artist Park Sung-woo, was adapted into the 2008 anime television series Kurokami The Animation, produced by Sunrise. His most commercially prominent work is Freezing, a science fiction action series created with artist Kwang-Hyun Kim. The original Freezing manga was adapted into a twelve-episode anime series in 2011, followed by a second season, Freezing Vibration. Beyond these titles, his extensive bibliography includes works such as Unbalance x Unbalance, Aflame Inferno, Onihime VS, and The Legend of Maian.

Thematically, his narratives often blend supernatural or science fiction action with mature visual elements. His stories frequently feature powerful female combatants, intense battle sequences, and character designs that emphasize specific aesthetic details, contributing to a distinct identity across his various projects. Many of his long-running series have gone on extended hiatus, while he simultaneously launches new projects, such as the 2019 manga Ponkotsu Megami no Isekai Sōseiroku and the 2021 series Drawing: Saikyou Mangaka wa Oekaki Skill de Isekai Musou Suru!, both created with artist Kwang-Hyun Kim.

Lim holds a significant position in the industry as a South Korean creator who has successfully navigated the Japanese manga market. His ability to maintain long-term collaborative relationships with multiple artists and produce content that consistently receives anime adaptations demonstrates his influence and the commercial viability of his creative model within the global anime and manga landscape.
