Gamei Hitsuji is a Japanese author primarily known as the creator of the light novel and manga series The Magic in this Other World Is Too Far Behind! (also known as Isekai Mahou wa Okureteru!). Hitsuji is credited as the original story author for this franchise, which began as a web novel before being published in print.

The series, which serves as Hitsuji’s most prominent work, follows Suimei, a modern magician who is summoned to a fantasy world alongside two friends. While his companions embrace the call to become heroes, Suimei finds the magic of this new world to be primitive compared to his own and instead focuses on finding a way home. The light novel series was first published in Japan by Overlap Inc., with the original Japanese release of the seventh volume noted to be in 2015. The series has been published in English digitally and in print by J-Novel Club. For the light novel, illustrations were provided by himesuz for early volumes and later by Ao Nekonabe starting with volume seven.

A manga adaptation of the series, which is published in the serialization Comic Gardo, lists Gamei Hitsuji as the story author with COMTA credited for the art. This adaptation began publication in late 2016. The narrative of the series frequently explores the contrast between advanced magical theory from the protagonist’s original world and the more simplistic magical systems of a standard fantasy realm, often subverting typical isekai tropes by having the summoned character possess power that surpasses the new world’s standards.
